The Wandering Lake is based on Patty Changs performative journey from Europe through Central Asia to China. Her work explores the lake Lop Nure and the Areal Sea, a terminal lake that has lost 90 percent of it´s original surface due t agriculture irrigation. In the video, the artist washes the corpse of a dead sperm whale in an act of ablution and mourning that brings to mind Moby Dick and and the end of empire
